How it works
Non profit organizations
Are you the manager of a non profit organization tearing your hair out because your cars always seem to break down and you’re spending way too much money on fixing them? Do you feel you have no idea what’s happening in your workshop and with your spare parts? Do you wonder what happens to your fuel and how all the tanks always seem to be empty too quick? Maybe it’s time to get in touch with Mechanics Without Borders…
Conditions for application
Every non profit organization that is willing to put a realistic budget aside to train his local mechanic, build a basic workshop with tools (if non existent) and get a proper supply of spare parts is welcome to ask for assistance from Mechanics Without Borders.
Costs involved
Apart from the costs as mentioned above it’s expected that the project pays for a ticket, visa’s (or other paperwork involved like national parks permits), food and lodging and a small mediation fee depending on the size and budget of your project.
What you get in return
Depending on the size of your fleet, a professional mechanic will stay at your project for one to six months to first evaluate the knowledge of your mechanic and the state of the workshop and cars, and secondly try to improve your situation to the best level possible.
The mechanic will improve the standard of your local mechanic to a level at which he will be able to run your workshop on a preventive maintenance system. He will put a service system in place of which the aim will not only be to prevent big problems and breakdowns but also to make sure your drivers drive in a safe car.
If needs be he can train your drivers and teach them how to drive without damaging the car. He will put in place a spare part system and fuel system that will allow you to easily judge what’s happening within your project. And last but not least he will teach you or one of your office managers how to check on the workshop manager through the systems as mentioned above.
Sometimes it might not be necessary to actually send a mechanic to your project and I might be able to help and advice you by phone or e-mail. If you think you only have a small problem or you’d like to put a system in place yourself or simply need a professional opinion please do not hesitate to contact me.
